Have you ever awoken in the morning and just wanted absolutely nothing to do with the day? On plenty of mornings I can honestly state I have had this feeling. On those days, I tend to extend my morning and my inevitable doom of arising by watching hours of Netflix in bed. However, Roman emperor and philosopher, Marcus Aurelius, once wrote, “When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive—to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” So, while those days do come, and those Netflix binges do happen, I try to remember this scholar’s statement every morning and embrace any obstacles or adventures that day has prepared for me.
Nonetheless, in college, those obstacles tend to be a bit more painful and shameful on Saturday and Sunday mornings, as you deal with the repercussions of your decisions from the night before. While ten tequila shots and dancing on top of the bar may have seemed like a wonderful idea to your intoxicated self, your hungover self may not feel exactly the same way. Luckily, some remarkable, blessed soul created the perfect physical and emotional cure to this tragic occurrence—brunch. Brunch is the perfect time to easy your body out of its hangover or if its a bottomless mimosas special, at least put it off for a couple more hours. Additionally, it’s a splendid time to wear a fashionable outfit to mask the aftermath of those judgment calls from last night. Because like Aurelius said, life’s a privilege, so rise and shine.
This Fashionisto wore a fantastic brunch outfit. Keeping it classic with the khaki pants, the neutral grayish-blue blazer and plaid long sleeve button-down, this brunch outfit gives him that J.Crew, suave aura. He accessorizes his outfit with a timeless brown belt, brown banded Kenneth Cole watch and brown loafers. The Fashionisto’s outfit is an all-around great ensemble that could be worn to a variety of events besides brunch, from meeting the parents to a casual interview.
One Simple Change: Keep the khakis and dark brown accessories yet swap out the long sleeve button-down and blazer for a short sleeve button-down to create a more casual appearance for a stylish weekend wear look. Additionally, you can spice up this outfit even more by switching out the loafers for a pair of printed Vans to remain on top of the trendy footwear game.
