BEAUTY BAR: Sun's Out, (Man) Buns Out

Long, no-fuss hair has been a popular look on the spring 2016 runway. Spring 2016 menswear runway, that is. Male models sported long ‘dos at shows from Burberry Prorsum and Gucci, to Prada and Marc Jacobs. The resulting look is relaxed, rugged and cool.

This Fashionisto is way ahead of the curve—he’s been growing his hair out for about 16 months now. When his hair is down it falls just a little past his shoulders. While the male models walking the spring 2016 menswear runways mostly had their hair down, this Fashionisto wears his hair up in a casual, messy bun. In the summer, this hair-do is the way to go to beat the heat.

Whether it’s in a bun, ponytail, braided or down, this Fashionisto clearly rocks long locks. Styled with an long sleeve jersey by streetwear brand Mishka NYC and sporty Chaco sandals, his look is perfect for hanging out at a festival or going to a concert (think Summerfest, Milwaukee folks).

While this Fashionisto’s hairstyle looks effortlessly cool, he does have a few tricks up his sleeve. Let’s face it—no matter what gender you identify with, having long hair means you have to put in more effort to keep it healthy. This Fashionisto washes his hair every other day, using Head & Shoulders shampoo and Dove nourishing oil care conditioner to make it soft and shiny. To get rid of and prevent tangles, he brushes his hair every day.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To get this Fashionisto’s easy bun, all you need is a brush and two hair ties. Start by brushing out your hair to get rid of any tangles or knots. Then, using the first hair tie, put your hair up in a ponytail roughly on the center of the back of your head. After that, twist the ponytail relatively tightly, wrap the hair around itself in a bun and secure it with another hair tie. And voila! You’ve got yourself a man bun.
