STYLE GURU STYLE: Long Haul Flights

Traveling is at once amazing, complex, puzzling, emotional, enriching and inspiring. It allows one to explore different cultures, sights, people and environments. It broadens our horizons, ideas and understandings of the world and its inhabitants. Simply it is wonderful. However, travel dressing can be complicated, especially for a long haul flight. I found it extremely difficult when trying to dress for my long haul flight that will be taking me from the Southern Hemisphere, in the middle of winter, to the warm summery days of the Northern Hemisphere.

Taking inspiration from the Hunter Original fall 2015 ready-to-wear show, I decided to opt for a chunky but super comfy and cozy parka coat. Obviously I had to team it with their signature wellington but opted for a modern Chelsea boot style for its lightness and ease. Alasdhair Willis throughout the show incorporated classic and traditional pieces, which are such a fundamentally significant part of the brands country heritage, in a tasteful yet practical way. Not only does this parka double as a super thick blanket but it also serves as a stylish jacket that can be thrown over a variety of looks. Parka coats are also perfect for travel as they can suit any unpredictable weather, all outdoor adventures and make the perfect fashion assertion. I love how my navy parka cinches in at the waist. This adds a bit of femininity and is ideal for petite frames.

To finish off my look I decided to keep everything else fairly basic. For additional comfort I decided a pair of trusty black leggings and a super long and baggy shirt were essential. To me, this t-shirt is a fashionable take on tourist attire. I love how this t-shirt literally spells out my destination in subtle manner with the simple black lettering. It’s fun without being over the top.

Get My Look: 1. A super cozy parka coat. 2. Hunter Original Boots. 3. Staple black leggings. 4. A baggy T-shirt.
