Hello Fashionistas! I am Whitney Woodburn from Washingtonville, NY. I am currently a senior at SUNY Buffalo State. I am a dual major in Fashion Merchandising and Communication Studies with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. My passions are fashion and writing, and I have many years of experience in both. I attended Orange-Ulster BOCES CTECH in high school-a vocational institution where I studied Fashion Merchandising and Interior Design. There I was able to figure out how to turn my love of fashion into a future career. In college, I have volunteered for SUNY Buffalo State’s annual Runway Fashion Show. I am currently a Fashion Merchandising intern at Janie’s Emporium in Kenmore, NY, where I assist boutique owner Alisha Taggart-Powell and learn the necessary steps to running a business.
My love affair with clothes began from a very young age. It’s interesting to see that as we age, certain garments will evolve into new staple pieces our closet. As a college student, I began grow appreciative of leggings, but I always find ways to dress it up when necessary. A pair of wedges and earrings can breathe sophistication into an outfit instantly! Nevertheless, there’s always a few items that will always be a part of my wardrobe, defining my style, like my love for silver jewelry, or my obsession with scarves.
I am ecstatic to be your summer 2015 Style Guru! As your Style Guru, I will be showing you the different styles and trends that can be incorporated into your wardrobe to make every event fashionable. These new ideas will bring your closet to the next level, allowing you to be on point for this summer. I also hope that these ideas will encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and make putting together an outfit an enjoyable task! Your outfit and wardrobe is a reflection of your personality, and I hope to influence your outfit choices so that you can display the best version of yourself every day. This season is the perfect time to revamp your style. Inspiration can be found anywhere, and I hope share some of my inspiration with you.
