WHAT TO WEAR: Vacation

When I think of a vacation, I picture myself lounging on a beach with sunglasses on and a book in my hands. Vacations are all about taking some time off from your everyday life so that you can enjoy yourself and relax. That means you want to be comfortable in what you wear, but it doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style! This Fashionista proves you can easily put together an appropriate outfit for chilling out in hot weather while still looking put together and trendy.

I am so thankful for the existence of maxi skirts. They’ve been on trend for a couple of summers now and will hopefully stick around for a while longer. They’re the perfect solid base for an outfit because they can easily be dressed up or down. My favorite part about maxi skirts is that wearing one feels like being wrapped up in a blanket. This one with a slit is especially breezy, making it the perfect selection for the beach. This Fashionista paired her basic, black skirt with a tribal print crop top. A crop top is the perfect way to balance out a flowy bottom. Plus, the beach is one place where showing a little skin is always appropriate. Sticking to cotton for both of these garments keeps the outfit cool, comfortable and casual.

This Fashionista knows that you can still make a comfy and casual ensemble special. If you’ve read any of my articles, you know I love a good statement necklace. The bright pink and red colors in this one are perfect for summer. I love how the clear rhinestones sparkle in the sun. It’s such a low-maintenance addition that easily turns this outfit into a standout look. Topping off the ensemble with a cross-body bag to stow all of her travel essentials in, simple black sandals and a classic pair of sunglasses, this Fashionista is ready for a walk along the beach.

One Simple Change: Unfortunately, vacations don’t last forever. Soon, it will come time for classes to start again, so swap out the crop top for striped T-shirt to make this outfit appropriate for class. Choose a lightweight one that will still you keep you cool in the warm weather that carries over into early fall.
