WHAT TO WEAR: Class

When I was a little kid, I got my entire impression of summer school from the movie, “Big Fat Liar.” You know, the one where Frankie Muniz (in his heyday of 2002) travels across the country to Hollywood to prove he didn’t plagiarize a final paper, an incident that forced him to attend dreaded summer school. To an impressionable second grader, my perception of summer school was it was truly an existential bummer. I mean, if Frankie Muniz said it, it was to be true, right?

Well Mr. Muniz, as a 21-year-old, I beg to differ. Once you find yourself on a college campus, summer school just becomes a part of your everyday routine. And honestly, it isn’t as terrible as that movie made it out to be. Sure, it’s summer and most people’s brains’ “off” switches have been flipped. But for many students, summer presents itself as the perfect opportunity to get a really challenging course out of the way before the hustle and bustle of the fall semester rolls around.

Of course, the fashion for class has to be tweaked just a little bit. Instead of 60 degree temperatures, summer school students are dealing with the temperatures in the upper 90s. Plus, with just a fewer classes per day, you want to be able to head straight from the classroom to hang out with friends.

This Fashionisto’s outfit definitely fits the bill for preppy, yet comfortable. He paired a bright blue V-neck T-shirt with a pair of preppy, pastel patterned shorts (try saying that 10 times fast.) He threw on some casual Nike sneakers for walking across campus, and topped the whole outfit off with a bold, red baseball cap to add a pop of color.

One Simple Change: If you are worried about the arctic tundra that one typically encounters when entering a classroom on campus, grab a quarter zip fleece to complete the preppy look.
