STYLE GURU STYLE: The Striped T-shirt Dress

6397 is taking risks to appeal to women who want to dress in more boyish designs. Looking through the 6397 resort 2016 collection on Style.com, I found that the look that appeals the most to me is the T-shirt dress as it is one of the very few designs that expresses a little more femininity amongst baggy pants and T-shirts. Something that I appreciate that this brand was able to do, though, in this collection is its featuring of lightweight cashmere in the collection. An exquisite fabric, cashmere tends to be used for sweaters and scarfs in the fall and wintertime. I also noted the impressive ability to tailor pants that fit a woman’s body in a way that makes a masculine statement.

Although my dress is not a “T-shirt dress” per say because it’s not made with T-shirt material, it represents the look that I am writing about. For my look, I mocked a striped T-shirt dress look that was featured in the 6397 resort 2016 collection by wearing an Anthropologie striped dress and paired it with Sam Edelman nude, ankle-strap heels for a dressier, more feminine look than as featured in the casual 6397 collection. By styling the dress like I did, it could be worn to an internship or even out to a nice lunch or tea (if you even do tea). Another fun, feminine detail of my mock-look are the bows on the back of my dress for a little element of surprise when I turn around. They give the dress more character than the average striped dress. Additionally, I paired my leather, braided bracelet with a gorjana anchor bracelet for a nautical vibe.

What I love about the striped T-shirt dress is that it’s a summer staple that you can make your own for just about any occasion by simply switching up your purse, shoes and jewelry.

Get My Look: 1. Any striped T-shirt dress.  2. Nude Heels. 3. Some simple jewelry.
