More often than not, I try to incorporate one interesting piece of clothing or accessory into my outfit to make my ensemble stand out whether it’s a statement necklace, cute pair of shoes or, in this case, an asymmetric skort. This is what designer Jacquemus did in his resort 2016 collection. I love how he took a simple item of clothing, such as a dress, blouse or a skirt, and added an interesting asymmetric detail. He took simple to an entire new level by adding quirky details that are eye-catching and fun.
Since Jacquemus’ main look in his collection is asymmetry, I decided to incorporate this into my look. I also wanted to keep within the same color palette that he used, such as white and blue, and this is exactly what I did. While strolling through my wardrobe, I automatically was drawn to this blue, asymmetric skort from Express. This piece is the best of both worlds because the front and back are completely different. I adore this skort since it gives a fun, flirty look and is easy to dress up. I wanted the skort to be the focal point of the outfit, so I kept the other pieces simple, but still wanted to embrace the details. This is why I paired this skort with a white, lace, crop top from Forever 21. To add more detail to accompany the crop top, I added white crochet sneakers from Target. Lastly, to finish this look, I wore a black choker necklace to embrace the popular ’90s trend.
This outfit is a look that is great for many events during the summertime. Being able to wear an outfit that is versatile during the summer is a must. This is something I strive for since you never know what the day might bring.
