STYLE GURU STYLE: Black And Yellow

Time and time again, I have admitted to rocking a somewhat monochromatic wardrobe. If you were to take a peak into my closest you’d be able to see just how much black, white and gray construct my attire. I am definitely one of those people who rocks an all-black ensemble at least three days out of the week. But now that we are well into the summer months, I have been slowly but surely incorporating new colors into my wardrobe.

This week, I switched up my normal black and white color palette with the help of some inspiration from Phillipp Plein’s 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This collection is filled with a variety of bright and upbeat hues while still incorporating my favorite black and white shades. It was this look in particular that inspired me to go for a cheerful yellow color. Yellow has been popping up everywhere this summer, from street style mavens to star-studded celebrities; everyone is jumping on the yellow bandwagon.

Just like any new trend, I had to start out small. I kept the majority of my look black and white, only incorporating a touch of yellow in the collar of my top. I took inspiration for the athleisure vibe of this outfit from my recent jump in attendance at our university gym. Plus, these Nike Roshe Runs are the comfiest shoes in my closet. To help me beat the Florida heat (and a bad hair day), I threw on my favorite all-black baseball cap. I added another touch of color with my go-to mirrored sunglasses, I absolutely dig the blue tint on these babies.

Get My Look: 1. A top with a pop of color. 2. A heat beating baseball cap. 3. A comfy pair of sneakers.
