Mixing patterns is always fun for me, but mixing textures can pose a bit of a challenge. One of my favorite fashion experiments included a mix of knit and lace. I enjoy incorporating contrasting moods wherever I can and I found these textures to be a perfect mix between grunge and elegance.
While consuming my daily dose of fashion on Style.com I came across Tess Giberson’s 2016 resort collection and was inspired to take some risks. Her collection was notable for it’s mix of textures and clean lines. Taking her collection into consideration I wanted to create a look that channeled my coastal roots while still mixing textures as Giberson had done so beautifully. I purposefully stuck with a simple color palette as her pieces consisted of one color in varying shades. I went with a pop of orange to bring in my own personality and summer vibes.
Every Fashionista should have a white lace skirt in her closet because it works as a layering piece on many different occasions. I pulled this skirt from my closet because I noticed that Giberson’s looks often had a looser bottom when it was a two piece ensemble.
My outfit consists of two simple pieces – not one! The top is from Roxy which is fabulous because it includes pockets. Because the top is too long to pair with shorts and it’s way to hot to wear pants I paired it with a lace Hollister skirt underneath.
Get My Look: 1. Any long tropical print top. 2. A lace skirt. 3. Bright nail polish.
