Inspired by the classic effortlessness and refreshing qualities of a pale summer sundress, I decided to try my own spin on Calvin Klein Collection’s pre-fall 2015 collection. His use of neutrals as a staple throughout the entire show reminded me of something we’ve lately forgotten: summer isn’t always about bold color statements.
In making the look my own, I opted for a crisp white sundress for more of a statement. White would also be a better option for my fellow fair skin friends. The simple and flowy cut of the dress is perfect for a hot summer day walking around the city, doing errands or meeting up with friends for lunch.
The minor embroidery along the neckline and shoulders serves as a subtle and fun pop that makes the look more versatile for everyday wear. To further emphasize the simplicity of the dress, I paired it with knee-high brown gladiator sandals and accessorized it with a brown leather cross-body bag and sunglasses.
In keeping with the minimalist look, I opted for no jewelry, especially because of the detail around the neck of the dress. If you wanted to add a pop, fun earrings or stackable rings would be a little additional detail that would keep the ensemble looking simple yet well put together.
One of my favorite things about summer is how simplistic and effortless a sundress can look. So the next time you run to your closet for a bold print on a hot day, try opting for something a little more basic to keep you looking calm, cool and collected.
