We all know the renowned saying “history repeats itself”. From wars to treaties, this phrase reminds us of the importance of using past experiences to better understand future decisions. The same is true for fashion. While some things such as super short shorts for men should remain a thing of the past, other old fashioned trends have increasingly become more and more popular over the years.
Personally, what really draws me to a vintage piece is the detailing and structure of the product. Many materials, textiles and denim pieces from the past, especially the ‘70s, create garments that are simply to die for! Not all fashion must-haves are loud, sparkly and/or complicated. In fact, most of today’s hottest trends are simple pieces that appreciate the old virtue of paying attention to details.
It is for this reason that this Fashionista’s outfit is one of my favorite fashion throwbacks. The fabric choice and detailing seen throughout this look is impeccable! Though her accessories present more of a modern boho vibe, the structure of her blouse and shorts are what create its vintage impression. The thin straps, halter neck and intricate print on her blouse are a trademark of old-fashioned fashion (say that ten times fast). Its delicate structure creates a beautiful, feminine-chic silhouette by elongating her neck and accentuating her shoulders. Moreover, her woven shorts are the perfect complement to her beautiful blouse as they allowed for both a practical and fashionable ensemble.
To complete this look, this Fashionista rightfully chose to go light with her accessories. Her simple beaded bracelet and black watch stayed true to her happy-go-lucky personality, while her leather messenger bag and chic sunglasses tied in all the vintage elements. Furthermore, the hints of brown in her sunglasses and satchel allowed them to act as statement pieces without taking away from the overall effortlessness of the look. To top it off, this Fashionista wore a pair of strappy sandals with minimal silver detailing to add the perfect finishing touch to her outfit. After all, not all that glitters is gold!
