STYLE GURU STYLE: Better Have My Jersey

I am consistently drawn to the trend that is athleisure. I love the merge between fashion and athletics. For me, comfort is key and this trend embodies that trait while still portraying fashion. The adidas brand is a perfect example of this movement. The brand received a facelift in recent years, and the fashion world has taken notice. Many designers have collaborated with the athletic label, but the adidas by Stella McCartney collab has, by far, stood out to me the most. The designer highlights boxy shapes, sleek lines and athleticism in the adidas by Stella McCartney fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I felt inspired by the collection and decided to take a stab at it.

While skimming the sale racks this weekend, I came across this white football inspired jersey. I was skeptical of the shape at first, but I got Rihanna vibes when I tried it on. Rihanna vibes always equal yes. I liked the mesh material and the transparency of it. Underneath, I let a simple back bra peep through. Just like the adidas by Stella McCartney line, I wanted to portray the athleticism of the top but with a feminine twist. I wore a silver plated choker around my neck. Once again, I wanted to add a girly flare to the sporty look. On the bottom, I wore a pair of black cropped jeans. For every girly aspect, there is a hint of masculinity. I chose a pair of pants that were a bit loose—not quite boyfriend jeans but also not snug. My feet thanked me for my choice in shoes on this day. My Nike 3.0 Flyknit sneakers are comfortable, point blank, but are also the perfect choice for an athleisure look.

Get My Look: 1. Mesh football jersey. 2. Silver choker. 3. Comfortable running shoes.
