Why do we crazy Style Gurus love fashion so much? Fashion is an ever-changing piece of culture that manifests itself in how we dress and how we visually present ourselves every single day. There is a certain magic in how it gives us options to blur lines in society and conjure up whatever kind of style and vibe we wish to present on any given day with any outfit. Now some Fashionistas/os may not go so far as to appreciate or wear the menswear skirts that are trending on European spring 2016 runways, but the vague idea of cross-dressing is becoming more widely accepted in the world of fashion and gender lines are being crossed, broken, twisted and zig-zagged…and I love it! A less adventurous way to experiment with this trend, Fashionistas, is with boyfriend jeans.
They’re hot on the runways of pre-fall 2015, especially in 6397’s collection. Boyfriend jeans provide a stylish and comfortable way to try out a tomboy trend for those who do not want to do anything too high fashion. A comfy option, boyfriend jeans provide a loose fit that are slightly baggy like men’s jeans, and they are fitted around the waist for a female body. These are hands down my favorite pair! This destroyed denim from the Kendall & Kylie line at PacSun keeps it light and breezy in the summer with big rips and rolled up bottoms. Cool is key. Plus, they show just enough leg for a nice, bronzy summer tan to show through!
I’ve paired these awesome jeans with a graphic tank top to match the casual look of the destroyed denim. The patriotic print and thin fabric make it a summer staple of my wardrobe. On the bottom, I opted for some comfy boat shoes. Nothing says summer like a pair of Sperry Top-Siders in rich hues of blue.
The whole outfit is very casual, so I added some gold accessories to glam it up just a little. Up top I have my everyday, cubic zirconia studs paired with anchor stud earrings. Remember those Sperry Top-Siders? I’ve matched their prep factor with a gold Vineyard Vines necklace—my favorite summer necklace featuring a little, smiley whale! On my hands I have my usual bracelets and my absolute favorite set of gold rings. These trendy little pieces are a hot combination this summer. A bunch of dainty rings and finger chains on the same hand at all lengths of the fingers is casual, yet glam.
And, of course, I’ve gone for my favorite gold Ray-Bans and some bright red, MAC lipstick for a bold, standout look. Play around with some funky lipstick colors this summer! Tis’ the season for experimenting with your look.
