What drew me to this Fashionista was not just the obvious and awesome details of her outfit, but the all-black everything, from head to toe in the muggy heat. In my mind, I applauded her for braving the NYC humidity and walking outside in black denim shorts, a turtleneck tank top and a leather jacket! Talk about heatwave! But I must give this brave Fashionista kudos for being able to rock the look so well, despite the heat.
If you have seen the cult classic film, The Adams Family, then you can attest that this look reminded me instantly of Wednesday Adams. But I am talking Wednesday 3.0! Believe it or not, it can be hard to pull off an all-black outfit because the patterns can be too matchy or just way too juxtaposed to look leveled, but this Fashionista was able to take different textures and make them work for her. The subtle lines on her turtleneck shirt create a vector leading the eyes down to the distressing of her shorts. I enjoyed the pop of color from her backpack, which seemed to radiate much like angels wings do against her dark and fiery look.
How To: If you want that Wednesday Adams updated goth-chic look like this Fashionista rocked, follow these simple steps. 1. Find a pair of awesomely distressed black high-waisted shorts. 2. Invest in a structured leather jacket that can channel your inner punk self. 3. Search for an all-white leather backpack to complement that all-black look and show that just because your outfit is black doesn’t mean your soul has to be as well, and voilà , you too can rock this look!
