When you have a creative mind, inspiration is everything. A poet sees a flower and writes a poem, a musician experiences a harsh breakup and writes a song about it. When I see brilliant designers, such as Dolce&Gabbana, Michael Kors or Chanel, I am truly inspired. These artists make dressing an adventure, rather than an everyday activity.
I based this look off of Dolce&Gabbana’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The collection was inspired by bull fighters. Each look was covered in red and black with a Spanish twist. The outfits in this show are the perfect combination of sexy and cute. I translated this style by pairing a printed red tank with a short leather skirt. The bold combination of classic colors, like black and ravishing red, make for a look that stands apart from the rest. Aside from the color combination, my favorite part of this look is the leather skirt. I love that leather has been reappearing the past couple years because it adds so much personality to an outfit.
Each look from Dolce&Gabbana’s show has a touch of gold. I added my own gold pieces, such as chunky bracelets, and made the look my own by adding a thick chain necklace. I am a huge fan of these chunky, lace-up heels. The thick heel makes them easy to walk in and the color tied in with the rest of my matador-inspired outfit. An important part of conquering this look are the little details. Tiny embellishments, sparkles, patterns and bold colors are the keys to getting it right. There is nothing simple about Dolce&Gabbana; the bolder the better!
