Walking around campus today I saw this adorable Fashionista’s outfit and felt like it was just shouting summer at me! Everything about her happy demeanor and fun, bright color palette just made me think about and appreciate the sunlight that was pouring through the trees and shining all around. We’ve been getting a lot of hot weather lately, and as much as I don’t love the feeling of stepping into a giant hair dryer with a speed set on high the instant I get outside, I do love the sunshine.
At first this was going to be an article about how cute her outfit was. I mean, how could I not love it? The bright orange high-waisted skirt with the ivory lace tank top tucked in and the chic, black cross-body bag and golden sandals work perfectly together. However, after taking another look at my pictures, I realized I was so smitten with her carefree, joyous happy vibe and quirky attitude that I changed my mind. The thing I love most about this whole ensemble was her smile!
There is that famous saying about how you’re never fully dressed without a smile, and it’s completely true. In this case, her smile made the outfit. She put it on in the morning and it was out there for the world to see, getting pretty contagious, too, I might add. I loved how her dainty jewelry and plain, simple hairstyle and makeup made that smile pop even more. They didn’t take away from it at all and, if anything, it made it even more noticeable.
Summertime is the perfect time of year to let your natural beauty shine through. Not only is it too hot to heap on loads of makeup, it’s too heavy. All you really need is a light tinted moisturizer or BB cream with an SPF in it and a little mascara on your eyes. Some chapstick, also with SPF, on the lips in a yummy flavor keeps you ready for any occasion with comfortable ease.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? You can apply any light foundation with some SPF in it, or just a plain, oil free sunscreen on your face. I recommend Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. Apply waterproof mascara to avoid the raccoon eyes (so you can spontaneously go swimming with friends at a moments notice) and Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil so your lips are moisturized and fruity tasting. And last, but certainly not least, have a big helping of self-confidence and happiness to make that smile shine bright!
