To me, fashion is all about experimenting and being open-minded while still being true to who you are. With trends and interests constantly changing, finding your personal style is more of a steady drive than a permanent destination. From my pageant girl sequins to my punk middle school years, I think I speak for all women when I say that we have all had our fashion phases (or as I like to call it: the good, the bad and the ugly). However, there are those rare, classic looks that seem to stand the test of time and can be altered to fit anybody’s personal taste.
This is one of the reasons I decided to model my look after kate spade’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear runway show. Not only are the looks classic and chic, but they are also given modern alterations that make them edgy and perfect for summer. Pairing an ordinary shift dress with a funky visor or an odd shaped bag can put a new twist on any old favorite. My green skater dress may seem boring on its own but with the right colors and accessories, can be made to look more contemporary and fashion-forward. I paired the dress with a bright pink clutch, which adds an unexpected pop of color to the ensemble. The tropical sliding sneakers also give the look a quirkier vibe, which is an aspect very prominent in the kate spade collection. Finally, I finished the outfit with a black felt hat.
Whether you’re all about new trends or prefer to stick to the basic essentials, mixing both makes for a killer combo! A classic look like this can stand out on its own, but adding some personal touches adds an original flair that reflects who you are, which I’m sure is a pretty amazing Fahsionista/o!
