After chatting with this Fashionista, it came as no surprise that she is a working model. This summer, style columns have been filled with snapshots of our favorite models off the runway and on the city streets, turning the “off-duty” concept into fashion’s latest trend. We’ve seen many variations of the off-duty look, from Kendall Jenner in a pair of pink culottes to my all-time favorite pictured here: the best of the basics.
There’s not much skill required in pulling off a basic off-duty look and, in my eyes, that’s the beauty of it. Consisting of closet essentials, there’s no need to go out and buy the latest trend to achieve this style. A loose white tank top is great to throw on for a comfortable, carefree aesthetic and can be flattering with little effort. Avoid those tempting booty shorts (a supermodel no-no) and grab your favorite pair of black skinnies. Distressed denim can add a little edge to your look while not being too distracting. While some have an aversion to mixing black and brown, I say, “Go for it!” When wearing a neutral palette, mixing black and brown is totally acceptable. I love the way this Fashionista’s satchel goes with the black elements of her ensemble. With gold accessories, the brown of the bag easily blends with the black hues.
The defining feature of this Fashionista’s off-duty style is her braided faux-hawk. From a classic French to an edgier hairstyle like this, braids are a perfect way to tame summer frizz. What I find most enviable about this hairstyle are those coveted beachy waves. Taken from the runway to the streets, these flowing locks have been spotted on all the top models this season.
With an off-duty style like this, I’m sure this Fashionista’s runway look is equally as fabulous. I’ll definitely be looking out for this one in the magazines and, if you aren’t inspired by her style now, you definitely will be when she makes the fashion headlines.
