While living in New York City this summer, I’ve been constantly surrounded by the latest and hottest fashion trends. Whether they’re blown up on the screens of Times Square, plastered on the walls of subway stations or posted in the windows of stores, fashion advertisements are everywhere in this city.
But my favorite method for observing budding style trends is quite simple—I make it a point to diligently people-watch wherever I go, ready to snap a photo of a cool purse or a one of a kind jacket. Even a quick trip to the store for milk and eggs (or more realistically, coffee ice cream and mac ‘n cheese) will lead to the discovery of a new street style trend. This journey of constant people-watching has lead me to my new favorite summer shoe obsession: lace-up sandals.
This week’s Fashionista is rocking one of the more unique pairs of sandals I’ve spotted on the streets so far this summer. Whereas most other lace-up sandals I’ve seen are a basic brown or black, hers are a cute teal color with floral stitching. Plus, the tassel detailing on the laces gives the shoes an added boho vibe. I really love how she chose to keep the rest of her outfit simple to let the shoes be the main focus of the look. The teal pop of color from her shoes took the outfit from casual and modest to bold and chic. Who says laces are just for sneakers, anyways?
