Dressing for a city day is never easy. What is comfortable is never usually functional or practical. What is functional or practical is sometimes not in style. Roaming cobblestone streets on a day where the heat index reached 100, I was sweating while wearing a paper thin romper. My iced latte had droplets of water falling off the side of the plastic cup, melting in the humidity.
I spotted this Fashionista midst battle with the insanely humid weather. Clad in gladiator sandals, this Fashionista was the clear victor, despite the heat index. Gladiator sandals are totally Instagram worthy, yet they are a great choice because they are functional. Paired with destroyed black shorts with a printed off-the-shoulder top, this Fashionista’s outfit goes hand in hand with the July weather.
The flawless combination left me speechless, drenched in rejected latte water on some street corner. The outfit is overall pretty simple with a top with a gorgeous neckline and basic jewelry. The gladiator sandals are not just your average flip flops or flats; they are so much more.
Looking down at my own attempt at dressing for success on a humid day, I realized my romper appeared kind of sad with the beat up pair of Sperry Top-Siders I was wearing. After running into this Fashionista, I definitely made a few notes to pick up a pair of sandals before the summer ends. Maybe my romper won’t look so sad anymore.
How To: A summer outfit isn’t complete without the perfect shoe. Let the shoes do the walking and talking. Pair gladiator sandals with your favorite T-shirt dress or sundress and nothing will be able to stop you. Happy adventuring!
