For me, summer is a time where you get to kick back and relax. Nothing should be taken too seriously, including your wardrobe. I love experimenting with clothes and all of the new trends this time of year. This look was inspired by the whimsical looks in Alberta Ferretti’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This collection was dominated by light, sheer fabrics that gave a ’70s-inspired vibe.
This sheer maxi skirt from Urban Outfitters was my focal piece. It’s such a fun skirt for the summer. There are so many details in this skirt: the polka-dot fabric, small lace details and side button closures. I layered this maxi with an American Apparel slip (it’s usually a tube top dress) for underneath coverage. I thought these neutral skirts needed a pop of color, which is where the bralette came in. This bright patterned top gives this look the pick me up it needed. Having a little bit of skin showing is acceptable during this time of year if you’re getting together with friends or family. Even with my love for fashion, I would refrain from wearing this crop top to class, or any formal gathering.
For jewelry I’m wearing layered necklaces at all different lengths. I think the jewelry is what helps pull this look altogether. I also paired the necklaces with two gold knuckle rings on one hand. I wanted to stick with gold jewelry because I felt it went nicely with the warm earthy look I had going. For shoes I’m wearing a pair of brown strappy vegan sandals. Again, I felt a brown shoe would continue the bohemian inspired look that I was going for.
Get My Look: 1. A fun bralette. 2. A flowy maxi skirt. 3. Stackable necklaces.
