If you would have told me 10, or even five, years ago that you prefer dresses over shorts and a top, I would have thought you were crazy. I always felt that dresses were an immense effort and that the only acceptable times to wear them were major occasions. Nowadays, I would much rather throw on a dress than rummage through my closet to find two cohesive pieces for an outfit. This summer, my go-to look has been simple: comfortable dresses that can be dressed down or up. When I saw Erdem’s 2015 fall ready-to-wear collection, I immediately knew I could relate. With a collection full of bold prints and babydoll dresses, I had to recreate it—with my own flare of course!
Keeping the rest of my look neutral, I wanted to make the dress the center of attention. The main reason I adore it so much is the silhouette. Babydoll dresses are fabulous because of their level of comfort. I can wear one to work or to tour the city all day and never feel constricted. They have a slightly elevated and very loose waistline, allowing you to breeze through the day! The main theme I saw throughout Erdem’s collection is unbelievably eye-catching prints. No monochrome here, folks! The dress I chose is warm in tone and boho-chic. The accessories, on the other hand, are simply complements to the dress. The bootie elevates the ensemble, making it 100 percent dinner date appropriate, while the cross-body purse keeps it more casual as opposed to a clutch.
This summer, my main priority in style was to wear outfits that combined functionality with comfort. Babydoll dresses are a way to be Style Guru-approved and still have the ability to go about your daily life. You can wear them to an art museum, your internship or when you’re just lounging about. You’ll see me rocking this look all summer and into fall, with a jacket and tights of course!
