BEAUTY BAR: Poppin' Pink

Summer is the time for natural makeup. I mean, in southern California we rock that trend for most of the year, but we especially utilize it in the summer. But keeping what little makeup you have on from looking like it’s melting when it’s hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk outside is hard enough. Making sure that there’s an eye-catching detail in there somewhere is almost thrown out the window.

Luckily I spotted this Fashionista, who not only has strong makeup game, but perfectly curled hair and a summer-ready outfit as well. Her light eye makeup is comprised mostly of soft natural shades like golds and tans with minimal black eyeliner and mascara. A lightweight, natural foundation creates the perfect backdrop for her fuschia lipstick. Her hair is also the perfect balance of curly and wavy, so it doesn’t look too put together yet doesn’t look like she just rolled off the beach.

She paired a flowy printed sundress with two-toned wedges and carries a kate spade cross-body bag. The deeper shade of her printed dress helps to accent the bright shade of her lipstick. Pairing a flirty sundress with curly hair and natural makeup—with the exception of her bold lipstick—ensures that this Fashionista is ready for a summer night out.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? Use a lightweight foundation that matches your natural skin tone, but don’t go overboard. A good BB cream will work well, too. Eye shadow in bronzes, tans and golds like those found in Bobbi Brown’s Nude on Nude palette from Sephora are the name of the game. Top it off with minimal eyeliner and mascara. For her lips, this Fashionista used MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Zen Rose. Hair-wise, to create bigger curls, simply use a bigger curling wand. Make a few face-framing strands relatively curly, while creating looser curls for a wavier look to give the rest of your hair a varied texture.
