What is the first thing you think of when you hear “Southern comfort?” For most of you it may be the popular Liqueur brand, but for those of us who broaden our insight past the booze, southern comfort (the phrase), to me, has a heart-warming tinge to it. When I hear southern comfort I imagine peach groves, bright sunflowers and plenty of sunshine.
Although you wouldn’t guess that my inspiration for this southern looking ensemble came from Louis Vuitton’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The dresses he used in particular had a nice movement to them that really caught my attention and I loved how the dresses gave an old-school-girl-vibe amped up on youthfulness and Southern-glam with a hint of downtown New Yorker.
I wanted to find something that would really highlight the type of dress I loved in Louis Vuitton’s collection; something that had that same amount of movement I noticed. I went with a swing-skirt dress to give my outfit that motion I wanted. To add along with the Southern theme I paired the dress with a jean vest, taupe booties with matching bootie socks and plenty of accessories.
With summer still in full swing and the days only getting dryer and hotter, a much needed break from shorts was a must.
