Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, you’ve probably noticed that the bohemian style movement has taken over the country. Connoisseurs of fashion have been drooling over anything that is a modern take on vintage fashion, and these funky and unique looks are the most drool worthy of all.
Take, for instance, the Tommy Hilfiger spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This line quite literally displays how boho has taken a hold of the country by combining the loose fitting and flowing looks of the boho style with patriotic patterns and an overload of bold reds and blues. Ranging from the smallest shorts and crop tops possible to long, sweeping dresses, Hilfiger’s collection pays homage to the good old days of rock ‘n’ roll.
Luckily for me, I share Hilfiger’s healthy respect for the vintage festival look, and I took inspiration from his latest collection, choosing to go for the more modest of his looks. My full-length maxi skirt echoes the boldness of the collection, especially with its pattern in the colors of, you guessed it, red, white and blue. Because it’s summer and currently over 100 degrees, I opted for some simple sandals that complemented the colors of my skirt.
Though I attempted to tone down the costumey feel of Hilfiger’s collection, I translated the aesthetic appeal of his ensembles into street style as much as possible. I have the floor-sweeping skirt with the rather long slit up the side and the deep V-neck top, which, in keeping with the whole vintage aura about the outfit, is lace. I even kept my hair down to give off the carefree festival vibe. The one thing I’m missing, to my deepest regret, is one of the fabulous capes that Hilfiger completed his collection with.
Get My Look: 1. A loose maxi skirt. 2. A lace crop top. 3. Toe loop sandals.
