After watching The Devil Wears Prada recently, I was reminded of magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly’s famous line, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” Everyone can have a laugh at this, but the fact remains that florals are a constantly reinvented staple in fashion, not just for spring but year round.
Anna Sui’s resort 2016 collection received a mixed review for using ’70s-inspired florals, but at the end of the day, they’re both wearable and sellable and never really go out of style. Anna Sui’s collection was short and sweet, getting right to the point with boho maxi dresses and moving into abstract florals mixed with stripes. The collection featured pants, long jackets and skirts but the fabric was light and airy.
In my look, I enjoyed channeling this breezy boho trend. My pants are a wearable take on comfy sweats and are perfect to throw on and travel in. My navy striped crop top is easy to wear and goes with almost anything. Inspired by Anna Sui’s dark florals, I topped off my look with a long, sleeveless floral jacket. It’s a trendy way to kick an outfit up a notch— plus, it’s just fun to swirl around!
Paris has made me a firm believer in comfortable shoes and showed me that there are plenty of fashionable footwear options. My platforms are Clarks and I wore them around the city with ease. My black leather clutch from Printemps in Paris is the perfect purse for a casual or dressy outfit.
