As summer slowly dwindles away and school inches nearer, it becomes increasingly harder to choose an outfit that fits the changing seasons while still looking chic (especially in our bipolar Chicago weather). You’re either stuck wearing sweaters in the blazing sun or tank tops in breezy temperatures. While summer to fall transition clothing may be hard to come by, Filippa K’s Stockholm fall 2015 Line helps bridge the gap between these two seasons. Her minimalistic and geometric style inspired me to embrace this adorable shift dress for the last few weeks of summer while I still could (insert crying emoji here).
What I love about this dress isn’t about how cute and versatile it is, but how comfortable it is. Seriously, I could wear this thing to school and that’s saying a lot for me (and all my fellow lazy college students out there). What’s more is that you don’t have to spend 20 minutes in the morning deciding what shirt to pair with your bottoms when a dress does the work for you. That. my friends, is a win-win situation.
Because the pattern of this shift dress is pretty bold, I decided to choose one statement piece so as to not take away too much from the centerpiece of the ensemble. Sticking with the minimalist theme of Filippa K, I went with a black and gold pendent necklace to create just enough drama up top without making the outfit look too busy. I finished off the look with a good ol’ pair of black strappy wedges (helps a girl get #legsfordays, am I right?), natural makeup and a simple black work/briefcase-esque purse.
Depending on how you style this dress, it can be worn for pretty much any occasion: school, running errands, seeing a concert, going to chapter or hittin’ the city for a girl’s night. As the weather gets cooler, I plan on warming it up with some black tights, a blazer or cardigan and booties!
