For the last couple of years, skinny jeans have been dominating the fashion world. Since the ’70s, wide-legged jeans came back into style in the early ’90s and then faded out in the early 2000’s. Well, I am happy to report to all Fashionistas that skinny jeans are not the only option anymore. In fact, wide-legs have taken the fashion world by storm bringing a futuristic element to a ’70s trend. In the fall 2015 ready-to-wear fashion shows, Acne Studio showed a lot of different types of wide-legged pants to wear. Many of these pants included some sort of futuristic element to it like embellishments or other fabrics.
In this look, I chose my favorite pair of wide-leg jeans, which I found in a nearby thrift store. One thing that I love about wide-leg jeans is the fact that they can compliment any body type. They work for women that are more pear-shaped because they add volume to the bottom of your legs adding balance to your body. For girls with a more straight body, with little shape, adding jeans that are tighter on top but flare at the bottom will add dimension and shape to your body as well.
I love the embroidery on these jeans because it adds the futuristic element that I explained earlier in this post. Because I want the focus to be on the jeans, I chose to pair it with a plain white top that hugs my body to give me more shape. To really channel the ’70s, I added a pair of black sandal platforms, which added a little more height to my short stature.
With wide-leg pants, there really is no fashion don’t. The only thing to watch out for is the length of the jeans. Wide-legs will look better when they are tailored to its appropriate length, leading to a better fit and longer lifetime for your pants. When pairing tops with wide-legs you can choose a crop top, a blouse or a simple T-shirt. With wide-legs your options are endless and you will always look like a true Fashionista.
