Can I let you in on a secret? I own the beautiful shirt featured in this look. Therefore, it only made sense that when I saw it being worn, I had to take pictures. While the whole outfit is obviously pretty, it is the top that steals the show. Easy to dress up or down depending on how you wear them, flowy chiffon tops are perfect for a variety of occasions. Layer them and adapt them to other outfits because they are great pieces to go from class to work and are the quintessence of semi-formal style.
This Fashionista paired her beautifully embroidered chiffon tank top with a simple cardigan and jeans. This layer laden look is also a great example of a summer to fall transition outfit. Without the cardigan, the look is perfectly summery, but when evenings start to chill, a sweater is a great addition. As the summer winds down but days remain warm, it is helpful to have transition pieces in your closet.
Two things make this particular blouse so special: detail and color. The embroidery details add both visual interest and movement to the garment. The second distinctive element is the gorgeous lilac purple color of the top. This color is flattering on all skin tones and my absolute favorite color. If my entire wardrobe was in neutrals and this lilac color, I think I would be alright. On second thought, let’s just vote to make it a neutral. Who’s in?
How To: Do you feel like chiffon tops are too fancy for everyday wear? Fear no more! Pair your fancier tops with distressed denim and a casual shoe (like a pair of Converse or a simple sandal) to dress it down. On the flip side, these tops are the easiest to dress up and rock to work, an interview or even an evening out.
