Summer ending is always bittersweet. It is fair to say that the one, and possibly only, good thing about summer coming to an end is the new selection of fall clothing available at all of my favorite stores. All of the essential fall shades like burgundy, navy blue and emerald green hitting the shelves is almost enough to make me look forward to sitting in lecture halls once more. Chunky knits, lush layers and oversize sweaters are the stuff dreams are made of, or at least mine, and I cannot wait to be living in these pieces again. Going to school in the northeast means I don’t have to say goodbye to my favorite summer pieces just yet though. It is easy to make the transition between seasons seamless, and this Fashionista is the perfect example on how to do so.
Since the majority of the school year is pretty chilly, one of my favorite looks for class is layering a sweater over a blouse. Depending on your closet, the color combinations are endless and it is such a fun way to experiment with mixing prints. The crisp white button-down is always my go to though; it is such a classic piece that works with every season. This Fashionista had the collar of her white button-down poking out of a neon pink sweater. I absolutely love seeing a pop of pink in someone’s outfit and I think that with the white button-down layered underneath it it gives off a very chic vibe.
The bottom half of the outfit is what really helps transition the outfit as a whole from summer into autumn. The denim shorts are a no-brainer for when the temperatures are still soaring high, and the slip on sneakers are practically made for walking around campus in. Cheetah print works with everything, it is a great neutral that will rarely clash with the rest of your outfit. The accessories this Fashionista wore are minimal, but speak for themselves. The structured bag works well with the layered look and the rad neon yellow earrings stay on track with the goal of seamlessly transitioning into fall.
One Simple Change: Time to pack away your shorts for the season? A favorite pair of jeans and some lace-up flats will absolutely do the trick. You can bring out your pearls to replace the neon yellow earrings and keep cheetah print as a fixture in the outfit by adding a faux fur cheetah print jacket on top of it all.
