Hi Fashionistas and Fashionistos!
My name is Emily, and I am originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Now, I’m a sophomore at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Whether it was being woken up by the presidential motorcade, taking jogs past the Lincoln Memorial or scavenging the city for the best brunch spot, I’ve certainly enjoyed the past year living in the nation’s capital. With that being said, I’m excited for another busy year, and couldn’t be happier to be a Style Guru this semester! One of the perks of living in a city is definitely the diverse people who live in them, and their cool style is an added bonus. Normally I can be found in all-black, but this summer I decided to spice up my wardrobe with some pretty summer hues. I’m hoping my revamped love for color will find a way into my fall wardrobe, and help keep my spirits up as the weather begins to cool down.
I’m not one to be seen in denim, but I couldn’t resist this Topshop romper because of its soft material and easy-to-wear vibes! I paired it with a Free People bandeau to combat the low neckline, and add a pop of color. This summer, I became obsessed with espadrilles, and have gotten a lot of use out of my color-blocked ones. Not only are they comfortable for walking around the city, but also remind me of summer because of their woven sole. Look out for “winterized” espadrilles in the upcoming months, because I’m sure this is one trend that won’t fade, unlike our summer tans.
For this look, I kept my jewelry simple to balance out the metallic hues in the bandeau. I can always be seen in my black watch, and I went with a simple layered necklace to keep my look casual. I’m eager to pair this necklace with some fancier dresses in the weeks to come. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for my style insight on campus this semester!
