My name is Alana Isbell and I am a sophomore at High Point University. I am currently a Visual Merchandising Design major. This is my first semester as a Style Guru, and I could not be happier! I have always loved fashion and cannot wait to start writing about college street style here in North Carolina.
This summer was interesting to say the least. Between working and summer classes, I spent most of my time exploring Charlotte. Since I couldn’t get out much, I took advantage of the time I had to dress in normal clothes. The summers in Charlotte are filled with heat, humidity and the occasional rain shower. Staying cool and comfortable can be tough when you like to be outside as much as I do. I decided to pair a loose, white button-down with high-waisted, ripped shorts. By pairing the outfit with a short, edgy necklace, ankle boots and an oversized bag, I created a street style perfect for exploring every coffee shop in the area.
I think my personal style changes weekly. I like to mix different styles and I’m always looking for the next statement piece. I tend to stay on the edgier side of fashion since my favorite thing to wear is anything black! In this look, I mixed classic—the Forever 21 button-down—and jean shorts with edge, the Forever 21 black and gold stud necklace and White Mountain ankle boots. I love wearing neutral tops and adding on-trend accessories. Doing so means you can re-wear your favorite top and make it look different every time!
I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me, and I look forward to keeping you up to date on the latest college fashion at High Point University!
