Greetings, everyone! I hope your summer was amazing, you’ve grown a lot mentally/spiritually and accomplished your summer goals list! My name is Amani, and this will be my second semester as a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista. This past summer, I learned so much about merging fashion and writing and have grown quite a bit with the help of the amazing editorial team. I currently attend the Fashion Institute of Technology as a rising sophomore/junior (don’t ask) majoring in Advertising and Communications Marketing, hoping to go onto getting my Master’s in Fashion Law.
Since I moved back to New York and while living in Manhattan, every day is a new reality for me. Every moment is the exact opposite of tedious. Architecturally and fashion-wise, New York City is a front-runner, and I still consider myself lucky every single day. What I’m looking forward to most about the fall semester is not only growing more as a Style Guru, but also discovering the fashion. Fall is the best season for fashion because of New York Fashion Week, of course (I can’t wait to volunteer again!). You can easily dress up or dress down, every day can be a fashion show due to how easy it is to layer items and the weather is a perfect blend of warm and chilly, which helps with picking out outfits. I can’t wait to check out and show you the remarkable outfits this city has to offer.
Anyone who knows me knows that my style is made up of 90 percent black—it goes with absolutely everything, and it’s chic, bold and effortless. And if you haven’t noticed, it is the national color for New Yorkers. This outfit explains who I’ve become as I’ve been infatuated with combining androgynous and girly looks. I’m inspired by Opening Ceremony, Acne Studios, Kanye West, adidas, 3.1 Phillip Lim and the street style of New York. This school year, you’ll catch me in class/working/interning/working out, exploring the streets of this city with close people in my life and most importantly, showing you the fall fashion I’ll be capturing.
Stay focused, stay fabulous and stay you.
