Hello Fashionistas/os! I’m so excited to be a Style Guru for my fourth semester! I took the summer off from seeking out other stylish ladies and gents in order to focus on being an Editorial Intern for CollegeFashionista. But I’m pumped to be back and showcasing the unique fashion that the St. Bonaventure University campus has to offer!
After editing for a semester, I feel like I have a newfound passion for CollegeFashionista. It’s awesome to see what goes on behind the scenes, and I feel like I learned so much. So I can’t wait to showcase what I have learned as I start creating my own posts again.
During the summer, I found that my style preferences were rapidly changing. No longer do I automatically reach for a boho-patterned blouse or sweeping dresses. Of course, I will still wear these items in my closet with pride. But now, bohemian style more influences my look in the form of accessories, as I love statement necklaces, especially with stones or crystals, and I love layering rings on my fingers. But now I like to use basic ensembles to highlight my accessories. For example, I love this H&M gray T-shirt dress because it is so basic, slouchy and comfortable. It requires no thought. But then I can choose a ton of different ways to accessorize. I can use a hat and necklace, like in this outfit, or for the colder months I can choose patterned stockings or a chunky scarf. I can wear Converse to finish the look or a pair of Chelsea boots. The options are endless, making it a piece I will wear again and again. The same goes for basic tops, high-waisted jeans and boots. The more ways I can wear an item, the more worth my money it is.
I love a good challenge, so I love the challenge that a solid-colored, basic piece presents me. How will I make it my own? How will I use it as a canvas on which to paint my own perspective and my own inspiration?
I can’t wait to use this semester to show how the students of St. Bonaventure show their own perspectives and inspirations through their sartorial choices. Here’s to a fashionable fall!
