STYLE GURU BIO: Amanda Seale

My name is Amanda Seale and I couldn’t get enough of CollegeFashionista, so here I am returning as a Style Guru for a second semester! I’m from Dutchess County, New York. I consider it downstate since I’m an hour away from the city and it’s not all farmland like most people imagine. I’m currently a junior majoring in Fashion Advertising and Marketing Communications and minoring in English (it’s a mouthful, right?). I’m sad to say that this is my last year at SUNY Oneonta before starting my journey at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. This year is going to be full of bittersweet endings, making room for exciting new beginnings.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by fashion and writing. From obsessing over Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in the Wizard of Oz (which my mom hunted down for my kindergarten Halloween costume), to writing my first short story about my fat cat in elementary school, fashion and writing have been my passions. Over the years, I developed these talents so I could eventually make them my career. Now, my dream is to work for a fashion magazine as a digital journalist. Along with being a Style Guru, I’m also the Editor-in-Chief for the Odyssey at SUNY Oneonta. Go check that out, as well!

As for my style, I’m a go-with-the-flow kind of girl. I obviously love keeping up with the latest trends; even if the trends are out of my comfort zone, I’ll give them a try. However, timeless pieces are necessities. Nine out of ten times, my outfit is accented with gold. In this outfit, I chose my Alex and Ani bracelets and brown sandals. Forget diamonds…gold is a woman’s best friend!

When it comes to picking out my outfits, I value comfort and simplicity. This summer I fell in love with swing dresses. It got to a point where I bought one of these for every day of the week and they were all I wore. I’ll admit that the option to go pants-less got the best of my summer style this year.

I value fashion and writing for their power to give you a voice and boost your confidence. For example, your personality shines through the outfit you picked out this morning and, in 160 characters or less, you’re able to publicize your thoughts/feelings/opinions. Like I always say, it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing on the outside as long as you feel good in the inside.

I’m beyond excited to continue my journey with CollegeFashionista while entering my last year at SUNY Oneonta. Although I’m enjoying the ride, I can’t wait to arrive at my destination. P.S: Please excuse my crazy hair. I highly advise you against trying to ombré your own hair pink based solely on YouTube videos.
