Hello! My name is Jenna and I am currently double majoring in Journalism and Marketing at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Although I am not formally studying fashion, I hope to work in fashion PR or magazine editing one day. Currently, I am involved with the event planning team for the on-campus magazine, UP Magazine. I help promote and celebrate the publication’s empowering message that comes with embracing your personal style.
Ever since I can remember, the range of creativity that fashion has to offer has fascinated me. I have always been in love with the idea that every person’s style can be so different. Fashion is like a canvas for you to paint your personality.
Like most Fashionitas and Fashionistos, I religiously watch Project Runway and anxiously await the next issue of my fashion magazines to arrive in the mailbox. Although the media provides me with glamorous ideas to update my look, the majority of my every day style inspiration has stemmed from my mom. She has always been an icon in shaping my style, teaching me the versatility that comes with classic, simple clothes.
Although I love to add a fun pattern or pop of color to make things interesting, I am a neutrals girl through and through. I will be the first to admit that I tend to buy the same colors repeatedly: grays, blues and blacks monopolize my closet. With that being said, I would like to consider my style as timeless and classic. I try to balance classy with trendy and I gravitate towards simple silhouettes that can transition from outfit to outfit, but pair them with more modern accessories to keep my look fresh.
I love to use accessories to add texture and depth to my style. The perfect petite cuff bracelet stacked against a chunky geometric bangle adds contrast and interest to the simplest outfit. Shoes are hands down my secret weapon: number one because you can never have too many pairs, and number two because they hold the power to change the direction of a look completely. Right now, I think that strappy sandals are the perfect transition shoe, whether you pair them with a swinging sundress or a light sweater and jeans.
I am so excited to share my love for writing and fashion with you this fall. I hope my posts inspire you to express yourself and find your personal style! Here’s to a fashionably rad semester!
