Like Fetty Wap, I am also like “Hey, what’s up? Hello.” My name is Miranda Coker and I’m so excited to be starting my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I was a style guru over the summer and it was amazing. I have a feeling that being a style guru during the school year is going to be a completely different experience and I can’t wait! For those of you who don’t know me, I am currently in my third year at Roger Williams University, located in Bristol, Rhode Island. I’m majoring in Journalism, with a minor in Political Science and a core concentration in Theater. I am also taking some Public Relations classes to get a more well rounded education. I love coffee, Disney movies, musical theater, puns and fashion.
Although the semester has started, summer has clearly not gone away just yet. This is one of my favorite times of the year. This outfit is great for that in between time. It’s fantastic for when you want to look put together for your first day of classes, but want to keep cool in the heat. I went for an overall summery look with a couple of pieces that would help the outfit transition into fall.
I started with a bright blue dress, which was perfect for a back to school outfit. It was modest enough so I wasn’t showing the whole class something they didn’t need to see, but it was still light and summer appropriate. I also added some brown sandals which kept the look fun and casual. I brought in some white and gold jewelry which added a glam element (it also allowed me to show off my school’s colors). The final piece of the ensemble was a multicolor scarf, which included many of the colors in my outfit. A scarf is great because during the summer, some classrooms have their AC blasting. A scarf is a great way to keep you warm in those classes without you having to lug around a jacket.
I love that I am able to continue in my journey as a Style Guru and I can’t wait to see what opportunities come my way this semester, not just through College Fashionista. Like Amelia Earhart once said “Adventure is worthwhile in itself” and I can’t wait for this adventure to begin!
