Bonjour, Fashionistas/os! My name is Jillian Selzer, and I am a junior and Journalism major at the University of North Texas. I’m so excited to be a part of the Style Guru team and to share my fashion finds with you! I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember, so what better way to combine my two loves than to intern for CollegeFashionista? After graduation, the dream is to pull a Jennifer Garner circa 13 Going on 30 and eventually become a top editor for a major style magazine (the next Anna Wintour, anyone?) and this internship is the perfect starting point.
Even though I only discovered fashion as a creative outlet two years ago, I’ve already started to gravitate toward my own particular style and signature pieces. As you can see, I love monochromatic and minimalist outfits. I’m a firm believer black is a color, and layering basics is a habit I’m not willing to break. Currently, Christian Siriano is my designer-of-choice. My dream is for him to design a custom wedding dress just for me, but maybe I’ve been spending a little too much time on my wedding board on Pinterest.
As I’ve shaped my own style, I’ve become a firm believer that the key to any polished look is to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. A simple necklace can make the difference between chic and Plain Jane, and layering with different styles mixes it up in the best way. To tie my outfit together, I added a black fedora as the cherry on top (and to protect my fair skin, of course). And last but certainly not least, every Fashionista needs a go-to pair of walking shoes. I often choose brown leather sandals as my fallback—they’re uber comfortable and go with almost every outfit. Get shopping, y’all—these items are a must for your fashion arsenal!
Thanks for reading, and I hope everyone has a #RADÂ semester!
