Uggs were one of most popular statement pieces of the early 2000s. Celebs like Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, and Vanessa Hudgens were all seen wearing Uggs in paparazzi photos in the early 2000s. Back in the day, Uggs were styled with anything from Juicy Couture tracksuits to denim mini skirts, and anybody who was anybody rocked a pair of them. Walk into any middle school from 2000 to 2010 and it would be shocking to not see a few pairs of Ugg boots. During the 2010s Uggs moved out of the fashion scene, and leather booties and thigh highs moved in. But, little by little, Uggs crept back into style, first with young girls and teenage boys, and today, Uggs are a go to boot choice for anyone during the cooler months.Â
Uggs in the Early 2000s
In the early 2000s, Uggs like the ones above, were the most popular boots to see on celebs like Kate Hudson and Paris Hilton in paparazzi photos. Uggs were one of the most worn shoes at this time, because they were easily styled with the other most well-known 2000s trends. Tracksuits were a popular style choice with Uggs, but mini denim skirts, baby tees, cargo pants, and enormous bags were other common choices to wear with them.
Uggs in the 2010's
From 2010 to 2015, Ugg’s slowly began to leave the fashion scene, but celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker were still rocking the Y2K style. In the 2010s, Ugg boots were more commonly seen with jeans, and became more of a winter-specific look. In the 2010s, styles like the Bailey Button and the Bailey Bows became more popular, and celebs started to stray away from the tall, basic style seen in the early 2000s. In 2010, I was given a gorgeous pair of purple Bailey Bows for Christmas, and I cherished them for years.Â
Kiddy Uggs in the mid 2010s
Teenagers and adults wearing Uggs became less popular in the mid-2010s, but children’s Uggs became more popular than ever. From the adorable mini pink Ugg boots that tons of celeb’s kids rocked, to the sweet sparkly Uggs that children all over the world begged their parents for, Uggs were positively back. Uggs were super cute on middle and high schoolers in the 2000s, but nothing beats toddlers in unicorn inspired booties in the mid-2010s!Â
Boys Bringing Back Uggs
Most women wouldn’t be caught dead in a pair of Uggs in 2015 or 2016, but men were bringing back Uggs in a big way. Before girls were brave enough to start styling Uggs again, teenage boys were styling them in wild ways. Celebs like Jayden Smith could be seen rocking a pair of Uggs. Smith styled them with bright colored Beats headphones and a crazy pair of black and gold tiger striped jeans, and he wasn’t the only man testing the fashion waters with his Uggs.
Ugg Slippers
Before Ugg boots made a complete comeback for women, Uggs slippers helped ease the fashion world back into the once-popular style. Celebrities like Eiza Gonzalez — who styled hot pink Ugg sandal slippers with a sporty, white romper — were loving the Ugg slipper trend in the late 2010s. Ugg slippers look cute, comfy, and totally put together, even when worn out and about.
Uggs Making a Full Comeback in the 2020s
Uggs had not been seen on adults in quite some time, but in the latest years of the 2010s, and the early parts of the 2020s, Uggs came back in full force. The Classic Mini II is one of the most popular styles you’ll see as of late. This style has been spotted on celebs like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, who are known for making Y2K trends look more modern than ever. This style is a lowkey take on a classic style and looks cute on everyone wearing them.Â
TikTok has had a major influence on fashion in the past couple of years, and when it comes to Uggs, there has been no exception. Influencers can be seen all over the app wearing mini Uggs. The style, cut just above the ankle, has been blowing up on social media, and some TikTok users have even taken it upon themselves to take their older, almost knee length boots, and transform them into the trendy mini versions. These boots were the hottest holiday gift this year, and influencers all over TikTok can be seen styling their brand new, extra short booties!Â
These classic boots have woven in and out of the fashion world over and over again, and now, thank goodness, seem to be taking a more permanent position. Uggs come in hundreds of styles and colors, and there is an Ugg boot out there for everyone!
