ALL IN THE DETAILS: '70s Style Hats

Channel your inner Bianca Jagger, Brigette Bardot or Anita Pallenberg with this ’70s inspired look! Oversized hats were at their peak in the ’70s, but like they say, “History repeats itself.” This Fashionista’s look pairs an oversized, magenta hat with an all-black ensemble of a dress, tights and heeled boots.

This look screams refined rocker-chic, meets ’70s rocker, meets American Horror Story Covent (or is that just me?). All I know is that this Fashionista looks almighty sitting atop a throne made of ice at the Fire and Ice Festival in Indiana, Pennsylvania She also pairs her look with a layered, chain necklace and charm bracelets, including Alex and Ani. The heart-shaped sunglasses also give it a very ’70s flare, as well.

Over-sized hats are both fashionable and functional. You can use the hat to make a statement, but you can also use it to hide any hair-related travesties and keep your head warm during the winter months. In the warmer months, the hat can also keep the sun out of your eyes.

How To: You can achieve a similar look without wearing a dress. If pants are more of your style, switch it up with some skinny black jeans and a leather jacket. You can make the hat the statement piece of your outfit by picking a bold color and all-black everything else (some Fashionistas swear by all-black everything) or a bold hat mixed with neutrals.
