ALL IN THE DETAILS: A Little Fringe Never Killed Nobody

I am pretty sure that in a past life I was a flapper girl. You know, the girls who wore beautiful beaded and fringe dresses and went to Gatsby’s parties every weekend? Yep, that’s me. Okay, okay I know that whole book/movie was made up, but you have to admit that life style was glamorous. My love for the 1920s era is what eventually sparked my love for fringe. Whether it is featured on your top, skirt, bag or jacket, fringe detailing totally transforms a plain outfit into something fun and fashionable. Some people may be afraid to embrace fringe in their personal style, but when it is done well, it can make just the right statement. One thing I love to do is use inspiration from fashion trends in the past to build an outfit that is fashionable and current.

I aspire to be this Fashionista. I mean seriously, her closet is for sure #closetgoals. She is never afraid to embrace current trends and transform them to make them her own. Today, this Fashionista turned her casual look into feminine one with a big comfy sweater from H&M, faux suede fringe skirt from Forever 21, beaded clutch, lace-up sandals by Jeffrey Campbell, Kendra Scott necklace and Dior sunglasses. The fringe on her skirt pops out from the bottom of the sweater just enough to make a statement, so when the wind blows, it is neither overwhelming nor overdone. Her lace-up sandals and colorful beaded bag add give the outfit a fun flair and help to bring it all together. What I love most about the way this adorable Fashionista styled her fringe skirt is how she paired it with something one might not typically have paired it with. Looking at just the skirt, my mind does not jump to an oversized sweater, but that is exactly what this Fashionista did to make this outfit her own. When styling your next outfit, think outside of the box; surprise everyone with something fun, different and original.

How To: Still afraid to bring fringe into your wardrobe? Don’t be! Pair a fringe skirt with an oversized sweater or a more fitted top, a colorful clutch and some cute sunglasses, and ta-da, you have an adorable outfit!
