This week’s post is an ode to the fellow ’90s kids out there. Do you remember the tattoo choker necklaces that we wore even though they were always a bit too tight for our necks? Well, the ’90s choker trend has come back and it has come back with a vengeance! Only this time there are more glamorous versions of the choker now (not to take away from the stylish, plastic rope we used to wear in middle school). Celebrities such as Miranda Kerr, Emma Watson and Alexa Chung have been spotted sporting this “Throwback Thursday” worthy accessory giving fellow Fashionistas major accessory inspiration.
This Fashionista gave her casual outfit a little edge by adding a very simple choker. This thin choker combined with a floral top and ripped skinny jeans gives the perfect combination of sweet and sinister. To enhance the edge even more, this fashion risk-taker opted for a black, leather backpack instead of a typical handbag. This gives the entire look a bit more of a playful-grunge feel.
Though this Fashionista chose to take a casual route with her look, chokers can also be a fantastic statement piece for formal events. For example, Rihanna wore an over-sized, velour blazer and strappy heels to the 2014 British Fashion Awards last December. To briefly take attention away from her insanely perfect legs, Rihanna added a statement diamond choker to complete the look.
