ALL IN THE DETAILS: Bright and Moody

The weather is finally getting warmer! And that means less sweater weather and more spring-inspired fashion. People all over campus are busting out their bright patterns and flowy tops to go to class in. This Fashionista in particular stuck out to me because of her bright kimono! She went the full distance and worked this bright, elaborate top with a matching hue of blue underneath that really made me think spring. Spring is a time to be BOLD! Whether it be with florals or geometric patterns, like this Fashionista, don’t be afraid to wear those bold, bright patterns!

Another point in this outfit that I really liked was its simplicity. Many people say, “Accessorize, accessorize!” But it’s easy to over-do it. This Fashionista’s choice to wear minimal jewelry with the one detailed beautiful ring was refreshing. I think if she had chosen to try and match it with other pieces it would’ve just been distracting.

This Fashionista did something well that people are often wary of doing: she mixed different pieces from different “styles.” For example, she mixed a western boot with a very bright and geometric pattern. It added another layer and kept the outfit from being stale and too much of one thing. Remember: you don’t have to stick with one mold! Mix and match!

How To: Go big or go home! Spring is a time to take fashion chances! If you aren’t used to wearing big, bright prints, go for it! Don’t be afraid to go for the dramatic ring or the loud pattern. It’s a new year and it’s a time to do something you’ve never done before! GO BOLD!
