As one of the greatest fashion capitals of the world, New York City is a place where the season’s largest trends can be spotted just about everywhere you look. This season, all I seem to see in every which direction is leopard print: leopard print booties, leopard print tops, leopard print clutches, and of course, leopard print coats! And what better place to show off this fierce trend than in the concrete jungle of NYC?
This Fashionista’s leopard print coat has been complemented seamlessly with nude tones and hints of baby pink–a trend that is expected to be huge this coming spring–simultaneously paired with black to balance out the fit. What I love most about this Fashionista’s outfit is that it utilizes a major yet simple trend and juxtaposes it with fantastic minor details. For example, the edgy chevron pattern of the tights contrasted with the soft texture and pattern of the spots on the coat work together perfectly to create a sense of tension in texture and pattern while keeping hints of color in common. Another example is how the boldness of the statement necklace actually works to complement the light colors in the coat, skirt, purse, and wallet, especially when broken up by the neutral black of the top, tights, booties, and the spots of the coat.

One of my favorite casual looks to try for this trend is straight leg, blue jeans paired with black booties and a white blouse, topped off with a leopard coat and maybe a statement necklace or statement earrings if you’re looking to add a little something extra to your look.
