ALL IN THE DETAILS: Do Not Be Afraid of Accessories

Often I have been afraid of wearing too many accessories and wearing silver with gold. Those are rules of the olden days. Do not be afraid of accessories; accessories are your friends. Being a college student waking up 10 minutes before a class is not out of the norm. Grabbing a necklace, a ring or even changing out earrings takes only a minute and automatically spices up what you are wearing.

The best trick for that 10 minute dress period is to throw on a dress or a top and skirt. It is simple and your classmates will surely be telling you how wonderful you look. Having a wardrobe that consists of a lot of casual dresses and skirts makes you seem as though you are trying harder than you really are. Throw on tights, boots and a denim jacket and you will be ready for the fast approaching fall season.

What I have learned is that I can get away with not even brushing my hair. While it is a fantastic way to save time, I implore you to brush it (my mother most definitely would). It’s the details that bring life to the outfit and allows you for a 10 minute getting ready session.

Mixing high and low necklaces also works well to create a slimming illusion. Be sure to add the color military green to your wardrobe this fall. The color is beautiful, and a lot of stores are making beautiful metallic variations of the color. Here, this Fashionista adds contrast to her class-ready outfit with a military green backpack. The combination of the backpack with the shoes are the essence of the outfit.

This Fashionista is, in fact, founder and EIC of servingstylenyc.com. She is stunning and makes every outfit scream her personality and most definitely scream style. She got her shoes from here. I love the slits at the sides of her skirt, which definitely adds more youth to the pencil skirt. This pencil skirt, although very different, would be a wonderful ensemble. Accessories, such as the necklace this Fashionista is wearing, are essential to the wardrobe. A similar necklace can be found here. It is simple, sleek and, most importantly, versatile. From a T-shirt and jeans to a dress for a night out, a necklace brings the outfit together.

How To: Next time you are almost late for class and are worried about your disheveled appearance (I am sure it is not only me), simply slip some rings on those fingers and a necklace around your neck and you are ready to go!
