ALL IN THE DETAILS: Feeling Geometric

I don’t know what it is about shapes, but I love them. Triangles, in particular, are my favorite and when I saw this Fashionista’s dress, I swooned. Even though when I took these photos it was a Saturday and our Fashionista had nowhere to go, she still chose to dress up and I applaud that.

Though geometric patterns were so fall/winter 2014-2015, I still see them pop-up all over campus. The nice thing about geometric patterns is the fact that they don’t require so much work in terms of spicing up an outfit. The pattern is loud enough on its own so one really needs simple jewelry. Or if you’re really feeling daring, you can add another print but be careful, you may become a walking art piece and that isn’t always a compliment. Geometric prints were popular on the runways of Prada, Valentino and Chanel.

What I like the most about her outfit is how simple it is. Even though she admitted to not being the most stylish person, she did a great job. She made sure the focus of her outfit was her dress by pairing it with a semi-intricate necklace and black wedges. I also like that she kept her makeup simple with a natural look along with her hair slightly pulled back. Again, this draws a viewer’s attention to her dress if that is the main focus and keeps the outfit non-busy.

How To:  First get a skater dress with a geometric print. It doesn’t have to be triangles, it can be circles, stripes, diamonds, etc. You’ll also need a necklace, one simple but cute enough to draw attention. Every girl’s favorite—shoes. Wedges should be going on sale since it is practically fall. I think these wedges will be cute with (almost) anything you pair them with.
