Fur is a word that strikes controversy to some and screams extreme chicness to others. However, I’m talking faux fur. This trend has been gracing the runways and bodies of our favorite bloggers and celebrities for the past couple of years. This trend is extremely versatile and can add a dash of pizazz to any ordinary outfit. You can dawn it to any high-class event or just out to brunch with your girlfriends!
I was over the moon when I saw this Fashionista walking or should I say stomping the bricks of Ohio University. Her glamorous outfit was just the right dose of inspiration that I needed for my chillier weather wardrobe. She draped a cream-colored shearling coat over a high neck velvet dress. Then she continued killing it with her accessories, throwing on a pair of black Jeffrey Campbell Litas and a gorgeous Christian Lacroix bag. This bag is the epitome of a fall color and had me green with envy. My favorite part of her look was of course the sunglasses. They are mirrored, silver, retro style and right on-trend. She looked effortlessly fabulous with a little help from her faux fur coat.
Now, I know this trend can be a little bit scary. You may ask yourself, is this too much? Will people think I’m weird or over the top? And my answer to that is, who cares! If you think the coat is to extreme for you then there are many more options on how to incorporate faux fur into your wardrobe. There is the ever so popular vest, which has been made extremely popular by my personal fashion queen Rachel Zoe that can give you a glam or even boho feel. You can also add it in with smaller accessories like hats and scarves. This trend has stuck around for many fall/winter seasons, and I for one hope it is here to stay!
How To:Â Afraid the faux fur may over power your entire outfit? Don’t worry! Take a page out of this Fashionista’s handbook and pair your faux fur piece with a simple dress; it will make you stand out and look like a rock star!
