ALL IN THE DETAILS: Geometric Accessories

September is here! Fall is my favorite season from the weather to the fashion, so I am thankful to finally be shifting into the cooler months after a long summer (I was not made for heat—I’m from Buffalo). Unfortunately, mother nature has not yet graced us with those cool days I am yearning for here in Pittsburgh. It may be back-to-school season but the temperatures have been exceeding 90 degrees nearly every day since classes started.

As eager as I am for sweater weather, I have been loving checking out how Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike are transitioning their summer pieces to look a little more fall appropriate despite the undeniable heat. It has been especially exciting to see lots of fresh new Fashionistas on campus after living in the ghost town that is a college campus during the summer time! With that being said, this Fashionista I spotted has mastered the art of making her summer time wardrobe work for fall via a sleek dress and bootie combo.

I loved the use of shapes and lines in this Fashionista’s look. Her pastel periwinkle dress has a high neckline with a trapezoid cut, playing off of her vintage hexagon shaped bag perfectly. Her round mint sunglasses contrasted nicely against the otherwise angular shapes happening in the outfit. The gold hardware on her sunglasses coordinated nicely with the gold handle on her purse, but this trendsetter wasn’t afraid to mix metals with her jewelry. She sported copper, brass and silver tones that all managed to work together since this look wasn’t too busy. To finish off her look, the Fashionista kept things casual with a pair of black booties for an overall cool look.

How to: If you’re like me and have been ready for fall since summer started but you’re still stuck in the heat, take notes from this Fashionista. Slowly work whatever fall pieces you can into your wardrobe without having a heat stroke—accessories are your key to success here! Switching out your sandals for booties is the perfect solution to a look that is screaming summer.
