ALL IN THE DETAILS: Gothic-Chic

Wearing a monochromatic outfit can sometimes be hard. It can be very difficult to make sure that your items stand out individually and blend together cohesively. You never want your outfit to get lost in one color. What is more difficult is keeping a black monochromatic outfit gothic, yet still chic and stylish.

This Fashionista absolutely knows how to rock a monochromatic black outfit with a few gothic elements to keep it seriously chic.

This Fashionista starts off with a bohemian inspired black dress. The dress has a white flower pattern detail in the front to help keep the dress from getting lost in the outfit. Although the dress is bohemian inspired, it helps to keep the gothic outfit feminine. The flirty length of the dress gives the outfit a feel of a gothic rocker, but the softness of the materials helps to soften the look, keeping it very chic.

Since the weather is getting colder, this Fashionista is wearing a black cardigan with fur detailing. The fur is slightly gray, which also helps the the cardigan to stand out against all of the black. The black cardigan is perfect for a gothic look while the fur adds softness, helping to keep it chic.

As it is getting colder, if you want to wear a dress in the winter season, don’t forget to wear a pair of tights. I always wear Clavin Klein Ultra Fit Matte Shaper Tights. These tights look beautiful on, smooth out any lines you might want to hide and are thick enough to help keep you warm. The matte finish on the tights allow the rest of the outfit to shine instead of drawing attention to itself.

An outfit, of course, needs a pair of extremely cool boots. Every girl needs a pair of knee-high lace-up black moto boots. These boots make an outfit automatically look tougher and gives your outfit a little extra kick. This Fashionista’s boots add to her gothic-chic outfit.

Obtaining this outfit is, of course, all in the finer details. This Fashionista started with the dress and the boots and then added little things here and there. This Fashionista is wearing a tiny skull necklace. Nothing screams gothic-chic like a delicate skull necklace. Although the necklace is not black, every monochromatic outfit needs one small item to truly stand out.

The last detail that this Fashionista has is her beautifully applied eyeliner. This perfectly gothic eyeliner application has little breaks in it with tiny delicate dots, keeping the look gothic but chic.

Being gothic-chic is truly, all in the details.

How To: Start with a black dress and black knee-high boots as a base. Add little details that suit your own personal taste like the tiny skull necklace this Fashionista is wearing. Start with the basics and add little elements that go with your monochromatic palette. Finally, have fun with your makeup! Don’t be afraid to try new things to express yourself.
